Hello

My name is Zach, and here is the semi short story behind The Wrap Rat.

In August of 2025 I found a video on YouTube of someone who created a homemade electric wrap roller.  His name was Big Arnie.  The YouTube video was from 18 yrs ago on a channel called StrongTurd.  I thought it was so cool, so I screen recorded and posted it to my IG. It got quite a bit of traction and engagement. This led me to think, why 18 yrs later are we still hand rolling and manually hand cranking?

I started to do some research on automatic wrap rollers and a few existed as homemade projects (one by Chris Duffin), and 1 was made to sell in the market by Ben Clark called the WAR Machine. Unfortunately it didn't last long after launching into the space.  Awhile after I started The Wrap Rat I was able to get into contact with Ben and he was nice enough to offer advice and direction from his experience. Thanks Ben.

After all of the research, I took the plunge. My friend Max from the gym helped me get the ball rolling with measurements and brainstorming ideas.  Once I knew I wanted to go all in, I ended up hiring a wizard named Collin who helped build CAD models, test prototypes, and make endless revisions. Our first design was more like a V2 or V3. Quite lofty and required a lot more capital.  That is how we ended up on the current design. Stripped down, nothing fancy, but still kicked ass.

I can think of a lot of reasons to why something like this hasn't been attempted outside of the ones I've mentioned, but we'll see where it goes. If it sticks, great. If it doesn't, I had fun and learned some stuff.
